Angie Vollenweider

Hi! My name is Angie Vollenweider, and I am very excited and blessed to be a part of the Legacy Team. I am looking forward to teaching all the new “Lions.” We are going to have a wonderful year full of discovery, learning, and fun!

I have been in the field of education, both here and in Gwinnett County, Georgia, for almost 20 years. I have a wide range of experiences. My career began as a volunteer, but my children’s principal soon convinced me to start substitute teaching. I loved going to all the different classrooms and learning from all the different teaching styles. It was also wonderful to meet and interact with so many different children. Shorty after, I was offered a permanent position and never looked back. I have served in many different classrooms with students of every ability and enjoyed every minute!

I stumbled onto Core Knowledge when my first child entered Kindergarten. Even though we were in an amazing school district, I wanted to be sure I did my part at home to keep her engaged and curious. I used the series as a way to supplement what she was learning in school. I used them with my second child as more of a preview. They both benefited greatly, even though I used the books in different ways. I think that is what makes Core Knowledge so wonderful. It can be used in a variety of ways and still speak to every child. I am excited to be using the series as a curriculum and not just a supplement.

I have a wonderful husband named Andrew and two amazing children; Danie and Matthew. In addition to being with family and friends, my favorite ways to spend my free time are reading, quilting and shopping. I also enjoy an occasional hike or bike ride, and I am trying to learn how to play disc golf.

“To instill a life-long love of learning in my students” is my professional mission statement. I look forward to teaching, nurturing and encouraging every student that enters Legacy Leadership Academy for many years to come.
